Sutra5 learning guide

Why does birth time matter in Vedic astrology?

Birth time fixes the moment used to calculate your chart. Together with birthplace, it affects the ascendant and the houses used to organize planetary placements.

What changes when the time changes?

The ascendant is the point of the zodiac rising at the eastern horizon. Its calculation depends on time and location. Sutra5 uses a sidereal, whole-sign chart: the ascendant sign defines the first house, and the remaining signs follow in order.

A time change may move the ascendant within its sign or across a sign boundary. There is no universal number of minutes that changes every chart in the same way.

Why does birthplace matter?

Location supplies latitude, longitude, and the local time zone. Enter the time recorded where you were born, with the correct AM or PM; do not manually convert it to another time zone.

What if my birth time is uncertain?

Check available birth records. If you cannot confirm the time, contact support before proceeding rather than entering an invented exact time.

An example

Two people born on the same date in the same city at different times may have different ascendants. This is an illustration of the inputs, not a prediction about either person.

How this fits into Sutra5

Your birth details form the calculated Vedic foundation of a Sutra5 Life Map. Traditional interpretations are offered for reflection, without a guarantee of future events.
